Removing mob <span class="highlight">phone</span> <span class="highlight">antenna</span> from window

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to remove a mobile phone hands free kit antenna from the back window? It is the type that has a section stuck to each side of the window and somehow connects through the window. I am removing the kit from one car and intend fitting it to another if I can.Everything is out except the antenna.

I wondered if a heat gun may be the go? Or some sort of solvent perhaps? Obviously it needs to be done to both sides of the glass.

Then will it be reusable?

Use a really skinny knife blade to get under it and lift it off. Unfortunately you will not be able to reuse the sticky bits, but provided the antenna and coupler box are not damaged by the blade, all will be good.

Replace the sticky stuff, and away you go.

If you're interested in good signal strength in remote areas, then don't re-use an on-glass antenna. They have the highest loss of any type.

I agree they are crap. I have one on one of my vehicles and I reckon it makes almost no difference. I have a ZCG Scalar broom stick on my other and it works amazing well. It's often the difference between making a call and not being able to.

Hi Trev,

I use one for mobile phone and one for vhf radio and find them good. Remove with a knife and most radio/phone dealers have replacement double sides (sticky pads) for them.Regards P&J
